Computers, documents charred in LIC bldg fire

A fire broke out at the fifth floor of the LIC building at Parry’s Corner in the wee hours of Tuesday. While computers and several documents got charred in the incident, no casualties were reported.

Around 4 am, the police and fire control rooms received information that smoke is billowing from the five-storey building at NSC Bose Road-Linghi Chetty Road junction. An aerial ladder fire truck from High Court premises was rushed to the spot and the fire was put out after an hour.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a short circuit could have led to the fire.

North Beach police station has registered a case. Power supply to the building has been suspended and the loss is being estimated, said LIC sources.
