Chennai ranked 1st amongst safest metro cities in India

The study was conducted based on the safest environment for women job goers and other factors.

CHENNAI: Chennai has been ranked the safest metro city in the Country, according to a crowd-sourced online database, Numbeo. The southern metropolis however holds a global rank of 127, according to the database.

Other metropolitan Cities in India are ranked much behind Chennai - Mumbai (161), Kolkatta (174) and New Delhi (263)

It may be noted that earlier the study conducted by the talent strategy consulting firm "Avtar" on five metrics – ease of living, safety, women's representation rate and women's empowerment initiatives, "Chennai has emerged on top of the million plus category cities from the study as the top city for women in India.

Reacting to the survey, Greater Chennai Police said that it is committed to make the city even more safer for its citizen and would continue to work hard for the same.
