The keyless locker system would be available at Vadapalani, Alandur and Tirumangalam stations. Passengers can avail the service at a cost of Rs 30 for three hours, said a CMRL official.

He said that the passengers can drop their luggage at the new digital keyless locker facility at the three stations.

According to the BOLT Lockers, the lockers are built on Internet of Things (IOT). “The lockers are equipped with advanced electro-mechanical locks which can be opened only by entering a passcode.

When a user closes the door, he/she would receive an instant SMS on the phone confirming the door is securely bolted. Passengers could feel the easiness of storing belongings in the box without worrying about anything,” the company said.

When asked whether such locker facility would be provided at stations like Central, CMBT, Egmore and Aiport, the official said that the decision on expanding the service to other stations would be taken after considering the response in the three stations.
