Chennai: Gold, silver price plunge on April 20; check how much it costs

CHENNAI: After a rise of Rs 320 per sovereign (8 grams), gold has now decreased by Rs 480 on April 20.

The yellow metal is now priced at Rs 1,14,400 per sovereign and Rs 14,300 per gram, a decrease of Rs 60.

On April 18, gold was priced at Rs 1,14,880 per sovereign and Rs 14,360 per gram.

Silver prices remain unchanged

Silver prices remained unchanged to sell for Rs 280 per gram (Rs 2,80,000 per kg) on April 20. On April 18, it was priced at Rs 280 per gram.

Gold rate today vs gold rate on this day, last year

Gold remains significantly higher compared to last year. Prices have surged from Rs 71,560 per sovereign (Rs 8,945 per gram) on April 20, 2025, to Rs 1,14,400 per sovereign (Rs 14,300 per gram) on April 20, 2026, marking an increase of Rs 42,840 or about 59.87%.
