Chennai: Gold registers Rs 2,560 fall on a single day, on March 26, 2026

CHENNAI: Gold prices in the city fell sharply on Thursday evening (March 26), dropping by Rs 2,560 per sovereign (8 grams).

During the morning session, gold was priced at Rs 1,09,360 per sovereign and Rs 13,670 per gram. With the evening price drop, the yellow metal has now declined by Rs 2,560 in a single day.

22-carat gold is now priced at Rs 1,06,800 per sovereign and Rs 13,350 per gram, after a decrease of Rs 320.

Silver remains stable

Silver prices remain stable, continue selling for Rs 260 (Rs 2,60,000 per kg) on March 26.

Gold remains significantly higher compared to last year. Prices have surged from Rs 65,560 per sovereign (Rs 8,195 per gram) on March 26, 2025, to Rs 1,06,800 per sovereign (Rs 13,350 per gram) on March 26, 2026, evening, marking an increase of Rs 41,240 or about 62.9%.
