Chennai: Gold prices remain unchanged on May 4; check how much it costs today

CHENNAI: After an increase of Rs 640 per sovereign (8 grams) on May 2, gold has remained unchanged on May 4.

The yellow metal is now priced at Rs 1,12,000 per sovereign and Rs 14,000 per gram, with no change.

On May 2, gold was priced at Rs 1,12,000 per sovereign and Rs 14,000 per gram.

Silver prices remain unchanged

Silver prices remained unchanged to sell for Rs 270 per gram (Rs 2,70,000 per kg) on May 4.

Gold remains significantly higher compared to last year. Prices have surged from Rs 70,040 per sovereign (Rs 8,755 per gram) on May 3, 2025, to Rs 1,12,000 per sovereign (Rs 14,000 per gram) on May 4, 2026, marking an increase of Rs 41,960 or about 59.9%.
