Chennai: Gold, silver prices surge on March 25, 2026 ;check how much they cost

CHENNAI: Gold prices in the city continue to rise, increasing by Rs 2,800 per sovereign (8 grams) on March 25. The previous day, gold had dipped by Rs 2,720 in the morning session and then increased by Rs 2,000 in the evening session.

The shiny metal is now priced at Rs 1,08,800 per sovereign and Rs 13,600 per gram, a rise of Rs 350.

On March 24, in the final session, the yellow metal was priced at Rs 1,06,000 per sovereign and Rs 13,250 per gram.

Silver price increase

Silver prices increased by Rs 10, selling for Rs 260 (Rs 2,60,000 per kg) on March 25. On March 24, silver was priced at Rs 250.

Gold rate today vs gold rate on this day, last year

Gold remains significantly higher compared to last year. Prices have surged from Rs 65,480 per sovereign (Rs 8185 per gram) on March 25, 2025, to Rs 1,08,800 per sovereign (Rs 13,600 per gram) on March 25, 2026, marking an increase of Rs 43,320 or about 66.15%.
