Chennai Beach-Tambaram night trains to be cancelled from August 25

CHENNAI: Night-time suburban train services between Chennai Beach and Tambaram will be cancelled or partially cancelled for nearly two weeks from August 25 to September 6 due to ongoing redevelopment works at Chennai Egmore railway station, according to a Daily Thanthi report.

The services will be affected between 11.15 pm and 4.15 am as part of the work to install an iron foot overbridge at Egmore station, which is undergoing redevelopment at an estimated cost of Rs 842 crore.

What are the changes for Chennai Beach-Tambaram trains on weekdays?

From August 25 to September 5, on weekdays, the following Chennai Beach-Tambaram services will be cancelled:

  • Trains leaving Chennai Beach for Tambaram at 10.20 pm, 11.20 pm, 11.40 pm and 11.59 pm are cancelled.

  • The 8 pm service from Tirumalpur to Chennai Beach, and services from Guduvanchery at 10.15 pm and 11.20 pm and from Chengalpattu at 10.20 pm and 11 pm will be partially cancelled between Tambaram and Chennai Beach.

  • Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu service at 3.50 am will also be partially cancelled between Chennai Beach and Tambaram from August 26 to September 7 on weekdays.

Which train services are rescheduled?

  • Chennai Beach-Guduvanchery service at 9.45 pm will instead leave at 9.50 pm, while the 10.20 pm Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu service will depart at 10.15 pm.

What are the changes for Chennai Beach-Tambaram trains on Sundays?

On Sundays, August 30 and September 6, several services will also be cancelled or partially cancelled.
