According to agitators, employees from postal, Income Tax and other central government departments gathered near the post office in Park Town and raised slogans against the state government to fulfil the demands put forth by JACTTO-GEO. “The new pension scheme should be scrapped, while the former scheme implemented. Moreover, the seventh pay commission should also be properly implemented,” they said.

M Duraipandian, general secretary of Confederation of Central Government Employees, said that the government should pay special attention to the demands of JACTTO-GEO. “Taking legal action and marking absence of government employees will be seen in a bad light and talks with representatives should also be held to settle the issues,” he said and added that they may hold yet another protest across the state in support of state government employees.
