CBI books 13 railway men for allegedly subletting their railway quarters

The CBI had already initiated legal actions against a number of Central Government employees who had sublet their official quarters in KK Nagar to private parties.

In two separate FIRs filed, the CBI has found that 13 employees, a majority of them working in the Perambur Loco works, had subleased their official quarters for a premium amount, which is illegal and termed as misconduct by a public servant, besides a criminal breach of trust committed by them.

Along with the railway employees the CBI had also booked a contractor, who had been using a vaccant quarters for his workers to stay. The CBI in the FIR alleges that all these government employees had sublet their allotted quarters to private people by receiving undue pecuniary advantage from them and thereby committed criminal breach of trust and cheated the Government of India.

It may be recalled that on December 14, CBI sleuths had conducted surprise checks at the railway quarters to find out if anybody sublet their allotted quarters illegally to private persons.
