Call taxi driver held for stealing laptop at Apollo Hospital

When she returned to the car parking lot a few hours later, she found her bag containing laptop stolen from the car.

Teynampet police have arrested a 40-year-old man for a stealing laptop from a car parked at Apollo Hospital in their jurisdiction. 

The accused L Mahendran of Tiruverkadu was a call taxi driver and the car as well as the stolen laptop were seized from him. The laptop belongs to one B Shreya (25) of Chromepet who brought her mother in her car to Apollo Hospital in Teynampet for treatment on November 23. 

When she returned to the car parking lot a few hours later, she found her bag containing laptop stolen from the car. Based on her complaint, Teynampet police registered a case and combed the CCTV footage which showed a man stealing the bag by opening the rear door of the car. 

A hunt was launched for him the accused was nabbed on Tuesday. Police said that Mahendran who came to the hospital to drop another person managed to open the car and escaped with the laptop. He was remanded in judicial custody.
