The deceased, Mukesh Babu from Madanapallee in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh, was a BTech graduate. He had been staying at a paying guest accommodation on Pilliyar Koil Street for the last few months to attend job interviews at software companies on OMR.

Around 8.30 pm on Monday, he was found hanging in his room. On information, the Kannagi Nagar police retrieved his body and sent it to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem examination.

As a suicide note retrieved from his room alleged that he was harassed by his roommate, Vignesh, and two other friends living a few streets away, they were detained.

Mukesh Babu’s parents who reached the city on Tuesday morning told police that Mukesh was under stress as he had borrowed about Rs 5 lakh from relatives.

They have reportedly informed police that Mukesh was a chain smoker and was addicted to liquor, and that he did not complain to them about any kind of harassment he faced from his friends. The Kannagi Nagar police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
