Anna University student's body recovered from Cooum

Police found a note in her bag in which she had stated, "No one is responsible for my death."

CHENNAI: Rescue personnel on Wednesday recovered the body of the Anna University student who jumped into the Cooum river near Napier Bridge on Tuesday.

The deceased, D Yuvasri (25) of Perungalathur, was pursuing an MBA at Anna University.

A two-wheeler rider alerted a traffic policeman on Kamarajar Salai after he witnessed Yuvasri jumping off the Napier Bridge.

Anna Square Police were alerted, and they found a bag on the bridge with the student's possessions and her ID card.

Police found a note in her bag in which she had stated, "No one is responsible for my death."

Fire and Rescue Services personnel who searched for Yuvasri on Tuesday suspended the search after nightfall. On Wednesday, the woman's body washed ashore near an estuary.

Her body was sent to a hospital for a post-mortem.

Anna Square Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances which led to the student's act.
