3 commit suicide in separate incidents

Three suicides were reported in the city late on Wednesday, while a 21-year-old youth was found dead near a railway station on Thursday.

A 23-year-old woman hanged self at her house on Wednesday night in Thiruvottriyur. Poongothai had dinner with her family as usual and went to sleep in her room. A few hours later, when her father entered the house, he was shocked to see his daughter hanging from ceiling. She was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead. In the same police station limit, a 35-year-old fisherman committed suicide at his house on Pattinatharkoil street. The deceased, Gnanamurugan was addicted to liquor. On Wednesday night, he hanged self in an inebriated state, said police. 

In another similar incident in West Mambalam, a 40-year-old housemaid committed suicide allegedly due to depression over her ill health. Police said that S Pavithra was suffering from stomach pain on Wednesday night, she hanged self in her house on Brindivanam Street. 

A 21-year-old youth found dead with injuries all over his body near railway track between Vyasarpadi and Perambur stations in the wee hours of Thursday. The deceased, YN Harikrishnan of Vyasarpadi, is suspected to have been drunk and knocked down by one of the EMU trains proceeding towards Avadi.
