A 28-year-old man was electrocuted while fixing an advertisement hoarding of a private college atop a building in Kancheepuram on Monday.

The deceased, Elango of Kancheepuram, was working in a printing shop, police said. On Monday, Elango along with Senthil (24), was fixing a flex of Alagapa college in Gandhi Road in Kancheepuram. Both of them were standing on the terrace on the second floor and placing the hoarding when unexpectedly the metal frame of the banner touched the overhead EB wire, police said. Both of them suffered severe burn injuries and were thrown off.

After onlookers informed the EB substation and the police, the power supply to that line was turned off. However, police, on arrival, found Elango already dead and rushed Senthil to Kancheepuram government hospital where he has been admitted in the ICU.

The Kancheepuram Town police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.
