CHENNAI: Prachi Tehlan is no new name in the south as she amassed a huge fan base with Mammootty’s Mamangam in Malayalam and with Trishanku in Telugu.

Now she is all set to foray into Tamil and Telugu in a much bigger way with Gentleman 2. “I received a call from KT Kunjumon sir’s office and asked me to fly down to Chennai. We had a meeting and I was asked to come on board Gentleman 2. He had seen me in Mamangam and believed that I could pull off this character in Gentleman 2, which I cannot reveal right now,” Prachi tells DT Next.

The actor-turned- Indian netball and basketball player is excited as she talks about the shooting schedules of the film that will be directed by Gokul Krishna and stars Chethan Cheenu as the male lead. “We will be shooting across different schedules in Hyderabad and Chennai. Gentleman in 1993 was a blockbuster that was way ahead of its time, and its sequel too is going to be something that will be worth the audience’s time. The best names in the industry have come forward to working in the film as technicians. We have Oscar-winner MM Keeravani sir composing the film’s music then the magnanimity of the script goes without saying,” she says with a smile.

Having been a part of Punjabi, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films with her first five films, Prachi says, “Be it art or sports, I take pride in representing my country. I believe in diversity and acting has always been my passion. Irrespective of the language, I would want to be a part of good narratives. I hope to get a break in Kannada as well soon.”

Being a cultural, art and sports ambassador, Prachi feels that she would never hit a saturation point. “I also run an NGO along with my mother and when I look back at the year to see what I have done so far, I would say that there is a lot left to be done. I can never hit a saturation point or feel exhausted in doing a lot of things,” she remarks.—KR
