Bragging lands Nagercoil YouTuber in distress; 220 sovereigns looted

NAGERCOIL (TAMIL NADU): A Nagercoil-based YouTuber lost 220 sovereigns of gold jewellery after miscreants broke into her home at VIP Garden in Thammathu Konam in Nagercoil district, police said on Saturday.

According to police, Vinothkumar, an exporter residing at VIP Garden near Anantha Nadar Kudiyiruppu, and his wife Madhumitha (29), a YouTuber, had gone to Tirunelveli on Thursday to purchase clothes for their two-year-old child's upcoming birthday.

Upon returning late at night, they found the rear door of the house had been broken open. On checking the first-floor bedroom, they found the bureau damaged and 220 sovereigns of gold jewellery stolen.

Based on a complaint, police launched an investigation and discovered that the intruders had cut through the rear door frame using a gas cutter to gain entry. The police are currently scanning CCTV footage to track down the suspects.

Investigators suspect that her frequent social media posts and reels showcasing her extensive gold jewellery collection -- where she routinely boasted about buying gold every month -- may have alerted the burglars to the stash. A special team has been formed to apprehend the culprits involved.
