This includes existing hotels, bakeries and tea shops, where only parcels are allowed, along with mobile selling and repair shops, TV and other households goods sales and repair shops, small jewellery and garment shops etc. However, the ban on salons still continues. Motorcycles/two-wheeler and car sales and service showrooms, firms dealing in automobile spare parts are allowed to open.
The government also urged the Central government to release funds to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. Chief Secretary K Shanmugam held a meeting with Central Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba through video conferencing in which he briefed Gauba about the steps taken by TN to contain the spread of the virus.
