Tiruchendur MLA seeks protection after threat

Tiruchendur MLA Anitha R. Radhakrishnan has sought police protection following a threat to his life on Wednesday. A widely circulated video uploaded on YouTube and other social media on Wednesday showed A. Subash, resident of Moolakarai, Arumuganeri, Thoothukudi district and founder of Panangattu Makkal Kazhagam, threatening to end his life.

The MLA, who had supported the agitation by relatives of Selvan, who was murdered by a gang led by AIADMK funtcionary, was at the receiving end when miscreants damaged his car.

Meanwhile, in the video, Subash confessed to the crime and also questioned the MLA. ‘If any complaint was lodged against me, you will face dire consequences’, Subash issued a threatening warning.

Moreover, Subash said your end game has begun and warned him to reform and if not, he would be reformed.

Based on the MLA’s complaint, Meignanapuram police had arrested two men and the MLA also said that Subash was accused in several murder crimes and he feared that such threat on the video released would endanger his life and hence sought adequate police protection.

Twelve police personnel have been deployed at his residence for security purpose.
