“The CAA has been passed by both houses of Parliament and it has become a law. I don’t believe it will be repealed. Hence, the protest may not yield any results. This is my view. Immediately, I am being branded as the BJP’s mouthpiece.... It really upsets me. But I am speaking the truth as it is,” he told reporters.
The violence should have been nipped in the bud and it was the job of both the Centre and the state government, he said, apparently referring to the AAP government. To a query, the actor reiterated that he would stand by Muslims if they were affected by the amended Citizenship Law.
Meanwhile, Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan welcomed Rajinikanth’s statement. “You have chosen a right path. It is not a separate path but a royal race. Welcome, congratulations,” he tweeted.
