Man held for possession, distribution of 20 kg gutkha products

CHENGALPATTU: The police arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly stocking and distributing gutka products weighing close to 20 kg in Chengalpattu on Saturday.

The accused was identified as Karthikeyan, a resident of Singaperumal Koil Street.

Following a tip-off that Karthikeyan was stocking and distributing banned gutka products to people in the district, a police team raided raid at his residence on Saturday.

“We seized gutka products weighing 20 kg during the raid,” police said.

Investigations revealed that he was distributing them to several young people in the area. Enquiries are on to see if there was a gang behind the incident.
