All these boats were immediately recovered by the Coast Guard ship and a thorough search was carried out. However, nothing suspicious was found onboard these boats.
Meanwhile, the Indian Coast Guard received a request from the Sri Lankan Coast Guard to help in searching for a few fibre boats with Sri Lankan pilgrims on board, which were secured at Katchatheevu but had gone adrift towards Indian waters due to bad weatherearly on Saturday.
As a goodwill gesture and to improve cooperation between both the maritime forces, the seven boats were handed over to Sri Lankan Coast Guard ship SLCG-409 at IMBL on Saturday afternoon by the Indian Coast Guard ship C-432, attached to Mandapam Coast Guard Station.
