Highways Min Velu inspects badly damaged ghat roads in Nilgiris

After inspecting Gudalur to Sulthan Bathery Road, Velu asked authorities to use soil nailing technology to prevent mud slides during rains.

COIMBATORE: Highways Minister EV Velu on Thursday inspected the ghat roads damaged by heavy rains, which pounded the Nilgiris recently.

After inspecting Gudalur to Sulthan Bathery Road, Velu asked authorities to use soil nailing technology to prevent mud slides during rains. It was one among the worst affected stretches, which has now been restored. He then received petitions from people in the neighbourhood. Velu also inspected the Ooty to Gudalur Road at Thalaikundha. He was accompanied by Principal Secretary (Highways) Pradeep Yadav and Nilgiris District Collector SP Amrith.
