DMK tells workers to take equality oath on April 14

The DMK high command, which released the 12-line Equality Day oath in Tamil, advised all its party functionaries, MPs, MLAs and local body representatives to pay floral tributes to Babasaheb Dr B R Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constitution, in all district party offices.

CHENNAI: The ruling DMK on Saturday advised all its party functionaries, including ministers, MPs, MLAs to assume equality day oath on the birth anniversary of Ambedkar on April 14.

A release issued by the DMK high command said that floral tributes are paid to the portrait of Ambedkar and equality day oath is assumed on his birth anniversary every year as per the announcement of Chief Minister M K Stalin in the State Assembly in 2022 that April 14 (Ambedkar’s birth anniversary) would be celebrated every year as Equality Day.

The oath has contents on how all would resolve to strive to create an egalitarian society without caste discrimination and never identify fellow human beings on the basis of caste and promote equality among fellow human beings, as per the ideals promoted by Babasaheb BR Ambedkar.
