He ordered the demolition of a 17-year-old panchayat union primary school building at Elathur near Nemili whose roof slabs fell due to rain on Wednesday. There were no casualties as it was a rain holiday. Following his orders, the 13 students were made to attend classes in another location while the Collector said orders would be issued for a new building soon.

Similarly, he also ordered the demolition of the dilapidated Manamadurai primary school building. As proposals were already sent for a new building for this school, he said construction would start soon.
