BREAKING | Five 'unsung heroes' from TN chosen for Padma Shri

CHENNAI: Five eminent personalities from Tamil Nadu were chosen for the prestigious Padma Shri honours, sources from the Union government told DT Next.

The Padma Shri awardees from Tamil Nadu are Dr Punniyamurthy Natesan, Othuvar Thiruthani Swaminathan, R Krishnan, Rajastapathi Kaliappa Goundar, Thiruvarur Bakhtavathsalam.

K Pajanivel from Puducherry was also selected for Padma Shri, sources added.

The other Padma awards - Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan - will be announced shortly.

The three Padma awards and the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award, will be formally announced today (January 25).
