

CHENNAI: Differences within the Congress over candidate selection for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections continue to persist, with senior leader Rahul Gandhi expressing strong dissatisfaction during the Central Election Committee meeting held in New Delhi on Thursday.
The Congress party is facing continued hurdles in finalising its candidates for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, as internal disagreements remain unresolved.
There is ongoing uncertainty in constituencies such as Vilavancode, Krishnagiri, Singanallur, Pennagaram, and Melur, where candidate selection remains unresolved, according to sources.
Central Election Committee meeting held on Thursday at AICC head queaters Delhi During the meeting convened to shortlist candidates, Rahul Gandhi reportedly expressed strong dissatisfaction after discrepancies emerged between the list prepared by him and the one submitted by the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee.
At the same time, sources indicate that the state leadership has also expressed displeasure, as the all India leadership suggested certain candidates for selection, leading to further friction within the party.
Due to these differences, the process of finalising the complete list of candidates continues to face delays.
