CHENNAI: IIT-Madras Director V Kamakoti, who has been conferred the Padma Shri, on Sunday said the national honour was not a personal milestone but a renewed responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the vision of 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047'.
Reacting to the announcement, Kamakoti said the Padma Shri carried a clear message for him, to intensify his efforts towards building a developed India by the centenary of Independence. "The Padma Shri Award means only one thing to me. That I will put all my best efforts towards 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047'," he said.
Underscoring the collective nature of his journey, the IIT-Madras Director attributed the recognition to teamwork and institutional support. "Whatever I have achieved is all because of collective effort. I dedicate this award to everyone who has been a part of this journey," he said.
An eminent academic and researcher, Kamakoti has been at the forefront of India's initiatives in indigenous technology development, information security and advanced computing. His leadership at IIT-Madras has focused on aligning academic excellence with national priorities, a commitment he said would only deepen in the years ahead.
