TIRUCHY: Eight persons, including three minor boys, were arrested under the Pocso Act in two different cases in Thanjavur on Saturday.
It is said that Surendar Pandian (21) from Ayyampettai in Thanjavur district had an affair with a 17-year-old girl from the locality. Surendar Pandian had reportedly abandoned the girl after sexually abusing her. Subsequently, the girl had an affair with one Jayasudhan (24) from Pasupathikoil in Thanjavur.
Meanwhile, the parents of the girl found a physical change in the girl and started inquiring. They also took her to Kumbakonam GH for medical examination, and doctors who inspected her said that she was pregnant for six months.
Soon, the parents lodged a complaint with the Papanasam All Women Police, who registered a case and conducted an inquiry with the girl, and she confessed to the police that her previous lover Surender Pandian, and the latest lover, Jayasudan, his friends Shanmugam (21), Ashok (21) and three minor boys had sexually abused her.
Based on the confession, the police registered a case against all seven persons, including the three minor boys, under various sections, including the Pocso Act. On Saturday, the police arrested all the persons and sent the minor boys to the government home, while the other four were lodged in the Pudukkottai prison.
Similarly, the Kumbakonam All-women police arrested Sanjay (23), a mechanic, for sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl and threatening to spread the photos of their intimacy on social media.
