Van carrying frozen fish overturns on Maduravoyal-Tambaram bypass, causes traffic congestion

The incident occurred around 10 am near Thiruneermalai, when the van, travelling at high speed, lost control and overturned on the road, according to a Daily Thanthi report.

CHENNAI: Traffic was affected on the Maduravoyal-Tambaram Bypass Road as an air-conditioned van loaded with fish flipped over near Tiruneermalai on Friday.

A van loaded with fish from Kasimedu was heading towards Kerala on Friday. Around 10 am, when speeding on the Maduravoyal-Tambaram bypass near Tiruneermalai the driver lost control of the vehicle and it flipped on one side.

Following the incident, the traffic was affected on the highway for more than half an hour, and on information, the Shankar Nagar police visited the spot, removed the vehicle and directed the traffic.

Police said fortunately the compartment where the fish were stored was not damaged. The police detained the van driver Mohan (28) and further inquiry is on.
