CHENNAI: Health minister Ma Subramanian on Wednesday inaugurated new medical infrastructure worth Rs 1.95 crore in Tiruvallur district.
He stated that several initiatives are being implemented to further enhance the medical infrastructure at Tiruvallur Government Medical College Hospital.
Subramanian said, “As many as six new public health buildings worth Rs 1.95 crore have been inaugurated. Out of these, 3 are in Poonamallee constituency, 2 in Tiruvallur constituency, and 1 in Gummidipoondi constituency. These additional buildings are essential for primary health centres and sub-health centres.”
Under the Special Area Development Scheme for Poonamallee constituency, 797 children with severe and moderate nutritional deficiencies were identified.
They were given milk and eggs by the district administration.
Also, due to the continuous efforts of the Collector and district health administration officials, 3 new schemes were launched in this area.
“At 700-bed Tiruvallur Government Medical College Hospital, 2 buses, each with 55 seats for students, have been made available for use with a CSR contribution of Rs 64 lakh from SuryaDev Alloys and Power,” said the minister.
“Another CSR contribution of Rs 28 lakh from Aptus Finance India helped to buy 4 electric battery-operated vehicles (battery cars) to help patients and pregnant women travel from one location to another within the hospital for treatment.”
