Kerala man held for stealing van from outside Anna Nagar bakery

CHENNAI: City police on Friday arrested a 26-year-old man who sped away in a van that was parked outside a bakery in Anna Nagar, on Thursday.

The owner of the van, S Kalayanasundaram (42) of Korattur, had parked the vehicle outside a bakery on Anna Nagar's 6th Avenue and went to offload the items he had brought in the van.

When he returned, the van was not to be seen after which he realised that it was stolen.

Based on his complaint, the Anna Nagar police registered a case and launched a search for the accused.

Following CCTV footage, the cops zeroed in on the accused, and on Saturday, they arrested Abdul Jaleel (28) of Kerala, and recovered the stolen vehicle from him.

The accused was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
