Chennai: Minor among 5 held with 4kg ganja

A 17-year-old boy was also secured and produced before the juvenile justice board.

CHENNAI: The police arrested five youths, including a minor boy, for possession of 4 kg of ganja in Tiruvottiyur on Tuesday.

Based on a tip-off about the movement of narcotic substances in Tiruvottiyur police limits, a team was on standby near Tiruvottiyur railway station and apprehended the gang on suspicion.

As they gave evasive replies, the police inspected and found 4 kg of ganja and arrested Harish (19), Sakthivel (21) - both from Tiruvottiyur, Vignesh (25) of Sathangadu and Vignesh Kumar (19) of Uthukottai, Tiruvallur district.

A 17-year-old boy was also secured and produced before the juvenile justice board.

The four youths were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. Police said that they sourced the ganja from Andhra Pradesh.
