CHENNAI: Residents of KK Nagar in Ayanavaram have raised serious complaints regarding uncollected debris that has been piled up for nearly two months on the pavement of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) playground on 10th Street.

School and college students, along with the general public who use the ground daily, state that the poor condition of the facility persists despite several complaints to GCC officials.

According to residents, this playground is one of the largest in the locality. Nearly one and a half months ago, officials cleaned the ground but dumped the collected waste in a corner of the pavement rather than removing it.

The ground lacks proper illumination, preventing residents from using the facility after 6.00 PM. While the local body carries out cleaning at other corporation parks, residents feel their specific requests have fallen on deaf ears.
R Vignesh, a resident of KK Nagar, expressed his frustration
Stagnant rainwater at the entrance has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, posing a health risk to the nearly 50 youths who frequent the area. Clearing the park is essential for the safety and health of the students who use it daily.
P Karthick, another resident,

When contacted, a Chennai Corporation official said, "Cleaning activities are conducted regularly in local parks and playgrounds. However, littering by the public remains a challenge. We will ensure the playground is cleared within the next couple of days."
