Chennai: Bus rams into two-wheeler killing woman pillion rider

While nearing Kannagapattu, a private bus unexpectedly collided with the bike in the rear.

CHENNAI: A 48-year-old woman was killed in an accident after a private bus rammed into a motorcycle she was riding with her husband near Tiruporur on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Kanchana, a resident of Kalavakkam near Tiruporur.

She was travelling on a bike with her husband, Balaraman. Police said the couple was travelling from Kalavakkam towards Guduvancherry via Tiruporur.

While nearing Kannagapattu, a private bus unexpectedly collided with the bike in the rear.

On impact, Balaraman fell to the left side of the road while Kanchana fell to the right. Tragically, the rear wheel of the bus ran over her head, killing her instantly.

Balaraman escaped with minor injuries. The Tiruporur police recovered the body, and sent it to the Chengalpattu GH for post-mortem. Further investigation is on.
