State film awards for 7 years: Karthi, Jai Bhim win big at State awards

Actors Vijay Sethupathi, Karthi, and Dhanush won the Best actor awards for 2016, 2017 and 2018, respectively

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday announced the state film awards for the past seven years — from 2016 to 2022. Actor-filmmaker R Parthiepan swept awards across different categories.

Actors Vijay Sethupathi, Karthi, and Dhanush won the Best actor awards for 2016, 2017 and 2018, respectively.

While Dhanush won the award for Vada Chennai (2018) and Asuran (2019), Karthi walked away with two awards each. He won the best actor award for Dheeran Athigaaram Ondru (2017) and special award as the best actor for Kaithi (2019).

Nayanthara’s Aramm, directed by Gopi Nainar, ruled the roost by winning the Best film award for 2017. The film also fetched her the Best female actor award for her lead role.

R Parthiepan won the best character artiste award for ‘Maveeran Kittu’ for the year 2016. He also won the 2019 best actor award for ‘Oththa Seruppu Size 7’, which also won the award for the second best film.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Maanagaram’ won the best film award for 2016, besides winning him the best director award. Keerthy Suresh won the best female actor award for ‘Paambu Sattai’ in the same year. ‘Raatchasan’, ‘Vada Chennai’, and ‘Vikram Vedha’ also won awards under a few categories.
