CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Friday granted conditional bail to the correspondent, secretary, principal and two teachers of a private school located at Kaniyamoor village of Kallakurichi district. The accused were arrested in connection with the suspicious death of a Class 12 girl in the school hostel premise.

Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan passed the orders this morning on hearing the bail applications.

The petitioners submitted that they were arrested on July 17 and the charge sheet has not been filed till now. They further submitted that the suicide note of the girl was not charging anything against them and said that the teachers wanted the student to study well.

Hasan Mohammed Jinnah, Public Prosecutor objected to granting bail submitting that the accused were booked under Section 305 of IPC and they would tamper with the evidence after getting the bail.

Advocate Sankara Subbu representing the parents of the deceased girl informed the HC that there are injuries in the body of the girl and suspected that she might have been tortured.

However, the judge observed that reports have been submitted in this connection and he was inclined to conditional grant bail. "I am inclined to grant bail and will pass the detailed order later," the judge observed.

It is noted that the school was vandalised by the protestors who gathered in front of the school on July 17 seeking justice for the girl.
