Fitness Mantra: Try Dandifit, a new form of exercise that strengthens core muscles
There seems to be a new, inventive fitness trend that comes out every week. And one such trend that caught our attention is Dandifit.

It is a full-body cardio workout exercise inspired by drumming, pilates and strength training. And for fitness enthusiasts from the city, there is a piece of good news. They will get a chance to learn Dandifit through a one-hour workshop that will be held in the city on October 5 at Body N Soul Yoga Studio, Perungudi. “The word Dandi means stick in Hindi. So basically, Dandifit means to develop fitness through various stick exercises. It includes sticks movement to improve focus, coordination, and physical fitness. This is not a popular form of fitness trend and we are just trying to introduce it to Chennaiites,” says Seema Srivastava, founder of Body N Soul Yoga Studio.
With the help of small sticks, you can do interesting, simple workouts. “There will be continuous music and the person needs to do intense exercises by holding the sticks. This will help in strengthening the core muscles and thereby, build core strength and muscle endurance,” she stresses.The benefits of Dandifit include weight loss, body toning, and flexibility. “The entire body gets benefitted from this and it can be done by people from all age groups and body types. If you have any medical condition or ailment, you can reduce the speed in which you do the exercises. You can see great results if you practice it daily for 10-15 minutes,” assures Seema.
