What types of food should one have during rainy season?
Avoid stored food and eat only freshly-cooked food items. One must always consume home-cooked food during this season. Ensure that the food is hot when you have it. It is best to avoid fast-food and food from eateries and restaurants. One never knows what kind of water is used to prepare food in these places.
What are the precautions one must take when it comes to water?
Boil the water you drink, even if it is mineral water. Often people complain that warm water doesn’t quench thirst. I suggest that in that case, boil the water meant for drinking the previous night and drink only that the next day.
What are the diseases one is prone to catch during this season? How can one prevent them?
Beware of water-borne diseases. Diseases like typhoid and amoebiasis are very common during rains. Children should wash their hands after they use the toilet. Since it is getting cold, children and older people—two soft targets- should cover themselves with warm wear.
