The Reno 3 Pro is priced lower than the 2019 flagship yet aims to create a premium experience driven largely by its selfie cam and slinky form factor.

It’s the design that impressed us the most. It’s not just the premium finish and Oppo’s pleasing colour palette that includes the Sky White variant that we reviewed. This one’s also about the heft — it’s not too heavy and feels good in your hands.

These aesthetics are complemented by the 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen (1080 x 2400 pixels / 20:9 aspect ratio) that stretches the screen-to-body ratio over 91%. It keeps the screen very immersive. It’s made possible by a dual punch hole selfie cam. Oppo has pitched this as the first ever 44MP dual punch-hole selfie cam and it’s one of the device’s strengths. The Reno 3 Pro offers some cool features like an Ultra Night Mode that sets it apart. The quad rear cam is driven by a 64MP primary lens. The primary cam is a mixed bag; while the device offers 5X (Optical) and 20X (digital) zoom photography, the results were not quite in the same league as the Reno 10X Zoom.

It’s the same story with the processor. Oppo opts for a Mediatek Helio 95 Processor even as it takes on devices like the OnePlus 7T that boasts of a zippier Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The Reno 3 Pro does a decent job of managing heavy duty gaming and multiple-tasking with 8GB of RAM. There’s a choice of 128GB and 256GB internal storage options.(Rs 29,990 onwards)

    My Passport from Western Digital:
a study of data backup habits of Indian users commissioned by Western Digital revealed a huge disconnect between age groups. While only 18% of the 36-45 age group back up their data, that number climbs to 82% for the 22-35 age group. That could well change with a slew of sleek products like the new My Passport. The 2020 line-up is lighter, smaller and comes in a choice of four colours — black, blue, red and the midnight blue for Mac Drive. The new My Passport is less than an inch thick (1.91 cm) and weighs 40 gm lesser than its predecessor. There are two versions formatted for macOS and Windows 10. The Windows 10 version  features a USB 3.0 connector that is compatible with USB 2.0 while the The My Passport for Mac drive is formatted for macOS and has a USB-C connector to deliver plug-and-play storage out of the box. Security is one of the key concerns for consumers and the My Passport drive features WD Discovery software for WD Security (password protection and 256-bit AES hardware encryption), social media and cloud storage import and WD drive utilities. (Rs 4,499 onwards)
