Using Masquerade you can make a video recording or click a snap with the various filters and share it on social networking sites.

You can expect Masquerade's face swapping filters to show up in the Facebook app eventually.

Masquerade’s blog post says that they are joining forces with Facebook and which will give a tremendous boost to the app as Facebook has over 1.6 billion users. This is a scale of audience that they never imagined was possible to reach.

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the acquisition via a video, where he uses the app’s filter.

The social network giant plans to keep Masquerade as a standalone app, on app stores as well as integrating its technology into Facebook.

Masquerade is available on both iOS and Android.

The app's three founders, Eugene Nevgen, Sergey Gonchar, and Eugene Zatepyakin, will work out of Facebook's London office, the company said.

Facebook has declined to say how much it paid for Masquerade.
