Salem man wanted to send youth to Afghanistan: NIA

CHENNAI: The NIA has begun probe against a man staying in Salem and another man in Bengaluru for allegedly radicalising youths and conspiring to send them to Afghanistan to undergo terrorist training and wage war against India after establishing links with Al-Qaeda like global terror outfits.

NIA has identified the Salem resident as Abdul Alim Molla, 20, of West Bengal, who was working in a textile showroom in Kitchipalayam.

He was picked up by Bengaluru police in July last week. His associate Akthar Hussian Lashkar, a native of Assam, was picked up from Thilak Nagar, Bengaluru.

The case was initially registered by Bengaluru police and later handed over to NIA.

Police said the suspects had created a Telegram group ‘ Eagle of Kohrasun’ and ‘Hinder Eagle’ and had radicalised youths to send them to Kashmir and Khorasan provision of Afghanistan.
