Police recover half-burnt body of youth, online game addiction suspected

Police said that Ashok (32) of Koodanagaram near Gudiyattam who worked in many companies had kept himself to his house without going for work for the last several days. He was involved in playing online rummy due to which he borrowed heavily from his friends. Though married 18 months ago, he also pledged his wife’s jewels to get cash for his online addiction resulting in his wife leaving him and returning to her mother’s house a week ago. Ashok lived in the first floor of his house where he took food provided by his parents on Sunday night. On Monday, residents detected a burning smell coming from the backyard of the house and when they investigated they found the half-burnt body of Ashok. Police sent the body to the Vellore Government Medical College Hospital for post mortem.
