Justifying his boycott, Stalin, responding to the invitation of state public secretary (Human rights), said the committee meeting was convened at the fag end of the AIADMK tenure to fill the post of the SHRC chairperson, which was kept vacant by the incumbent regime during repeated human rights violations.
No progress would be achieved through the meeting organized out of the blue, after undermining human rights during the ten-year AIADMK regime, including the last one year when the post of SHRC chairman was vacant, the DMK president, who is also the Leader of Opposition said, before adding, “Participating in the meeting will not bear any fruition.”
Remarking that the approach of the AIADMK regime in the last ten years demonstrate that it does not have desired faith in human rights respected by all across the globe,
Stalin listed out the various alleged human rights violations of the AIADMK regime since 2011, including Thoothukudi and Paramkudi police firings and Saathankulam double deaths, and said that human rights were brutally violated. Accusing Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami led AIADMK regime of supporting the violations whenever they happened, the LoP said the recommendations of the SHRC were completely disregarded.
