Stalin had demanded the cancellation of the quarry contract given to son of Vanur MLA Sakrapani and the resignation of Shanmugham, who awarded the contract in violation of rules. Reacting to it, Shanmugham said he was ready to resign provided the same yardstick should be taken by the DMK and Stalin should direct senior leaders Duraimurugan and K Ponmudy also to resign as their family members have also bagged government contracts in the past and the present. The DMK leader has failed to understand that there is no rule or conditions that stops the government from allocating quarry license to the relatives of the MLAs or any public representative. There is no violation or any illegality in granting the quarry license, he added.
