According to the new plan by the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), a continuous assessment test would be conducted for both theory and practical from this academic year as per the diploma schedule.

A senior DoTE official told DT Next that the lecturers have to get Google response form to conduct tests. “Till colleges reopen, answer papers have to be collected through Google classroom for each subject, and softcopy of the answer paper should be maintained by the lecturers concerned. They have to be evaluated and all records related to conduct of assessment, assignment and class lectures should be kept ready for squad inspection,” said the official.

Also, all principals were asked to submit the details of the students who have desktop, laptop, mobile, email and those who do not have gadgets to access online classes.

The students’ data should be submitted to the directorate on regular basis, he said, adding that the flying squad that would be formed soon would collect feedback on each subject from the students.

“They will also check class logbooks of all the faculty members and Google response forms printout, besides going through absentee statement and evaluated answer papers. The squad will also check continuous assessment mark statements,” he said.

The schedule for the new monitoring system would be sent to the colleges. “In order to meet the number of working days, all Saturdays except second Saturday will be working days to make up for the academic loss due to the pandemic lockdown,” he added.

There are about 500 polytechnic colleges in the State, including 85 government institutions, that have around three lakh students.
