Mukkulathors may work against EPS, warns survey

According to an expert survey report submitted to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami recently, the ruling AIADMK will find the going tough in the state Assembly elections coming up early next year, especially in the southern districts, following the Mukkulathor community closing ranks with Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.

Experienced surveyors, who toured the southern districts extensively, cite naming of Palaniswami as CM candidate as the reason for the community’s disenchantment with the Chief Minister and that there was a good chance for them working against official AIADMK candidates in the Assembly elections, the survey revealed. IAccording to top party sources in Vellore, former general secretary “Sasikala too is totally disenchanted with Palaniswami – a silent killer, was the term used to describe EPS —and hence there is likely to be a total and unexpected turn around after her release from the Bengaluru prison.”

Top leaders in both the AIADMK and the AMMK were aware of this and hence the lack of sniping at each other in recent times, it was said. With state intelligence officials quietly gathering information on the chances of ruling party in the upcoming polls, fence sitters in the AIADMK and AMMK are quietly seeking information on the DMK’s chances in the elections. “While such worthies say they were seeking information to be updated, those in the know say they are likely to join the DMK when the situation clears after Sasikala’s release,” top party sources revealed.

“We fully understand that the BJP is the albatross around the AIADMK’s neck and rue the lack of a top leader like Jayalalithaa to lead the party. The three farm bills, NEET and the CAA, NRC and NPR combine have given the DMK enough ammunition to fight us. Even farmers will vote against us this time and that is exactly what the DMK is banking upon,” rued a senior leader in Chennai.
