“We can justify the twisting of muscles between the two leaders if they fight for the present Chief Minister’s post but they have been challenging each other for the next term’s Chief Minister. They will not even win in the election and why do they clash with each other,” giggled Mutharasan while speaking to the reporters in Thanjavur.

Mutharasan was participating the district committee meeting of CPI in Thanjavur and spoke to the reporters that the rape and murder of the UP girl had sparked turmoil across the country but the Prime Minister has been maintaining unusual silence on the issue. Similarly, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has been keeping quiet on the issue, he said. Stating that there is a threat to democracy in India as the Centre has been enacting a series of anti-people policies.

“Since there is a majority, the BJP should not do whatever they like and this would generate a series of problems among the people and so the ruling party should be aware of the present condition of the people”, he said. Meanwhile, the CPI state secretary said that the Cauvery Delta farmers have been harvesting kuruvai successfully for the past 10 years but the state government has failed to open adequate DPCs in the region and this had resulted into a heavy loss to each farmer who has been waiting for a long time before the procurement centres.

In the meantime, he said, the fight for the Chief Minister’s post in AIADMK is a befooling act.
