Pondy reports 481 new cases, five deaths
Puducherry reported 481 positive cases taking the total active cases to 2,616 and 5 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao in a video clip sent to the media here on Wednesday said, 413 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 67 in Yanam region and one in Mahe region. The 481 cases are the highest number reported in the last 140 days. Three persons died in the government medical college, one in Jipmer and one in Yanam Government hospital.
So far 6381 persons have been infected, of which 3669 have been treated and discharged, 96 died and 2616 persons were being treated in hospitals and in home isolation.
Meanwhile, Director of Medical Services Dr Mohan Kumar in a Whatsapp posting said that as many as 138 persons were treated and discharged in the last 24 hours.
About 123 persons were discharged from Puducherry region, 13 from Yanam region and two from Mahe region.
Presently 2274 active cases are there in Puducherry region,161 in Karaikal region, 181 in Yanam region and four in Mahe region. As many as 1093 positive patients are being treated in home isolation in Puducherry, Karaikal and Yanam regions, he said. Dr Kumar said that the positivity rate is 38.6 percent, fatality rate is 1.5 percent and recovery rate is 57.9 percent.
