Conceding to the submission made by Advocate General Vijay Narayan in this regard a division bench comprising Justice M M Sundresh and Justice R Hemalatha on Thursday disposed the pleas moved by Akhila Bharatha Brahmin Association, TN, Kerala & Puduchery Reddy Nala Sangam and another one. They had challenged the decision of the Government to stop issuing income/property certificates to avail EWS reservation.

The petitioners had contended that 10 percent reservation has been provided to the economically weaker section by the Parliament considering the plight of such segments and hence they required income certificates to apply for jobs in railways, banks and other sectors.

But the Tamil Nadu government had suddenly prevented Tahsildars from issuing them, the litigants complained.

However, following the litigation the group of ministers constituted to consider the matter reversed its decision of not allowing income and asset certificates to candidates under EWS for claiming the 10 percent reservation made available in Central government institutions.
